For centuries people have used drumming to release stress, raise their spirits, enhance clarity and focus, and develop a culture of co-operation and community. With the experience of over 2,000 events in 19 countries and having worked with over 130 of the top companies in the world, The Drum Circle has proven itself to be a truly dynamic, powerful and professional corporate team building activity nationwide! Interactive drumming is a cutting edge tool increasingly being used in the business environment to develop unity in the workplace
Leading musicians from not only Australia but all around the world come together with our unparalleled industry experience to provide you with the professionalism and unforgettable results your event deserves - no matter how big or small. Interactive drumming creates unity in minutes. Quite simply, we bring people together. How we do it - Well that's of course the fun part!
With a team of professional musicians and a drum for each participant, Drum Circle Events facilitates a truly memorable, interactive musical experience. Before delegates arrive we set out on each individual chair, a traditional hand carved African Djembe drum.
Drum Circle illustrate that in the same way as music is structured, so too is an organisation - each individual and department plays a specific role within the company for its effective and successful functioning. Communicating with each other allows music to be created!
With a drum for every participant our team of professional musicians and facilitators take your group on a truly dynamic and exhilarating music making journey.
From behind closed doors the team of musicians kick off with a powerful drum call using a massive 44 gallon bass drum, doun douns and Djembes. The rhythm and pulse fills the airspace, the doors swing open and delegates enter. Picking up their drums in order to sit down, the first 15 minutes of the drum circle is completely non-verbal with our Facilitator orchestrating an atmosphere of anticipation and excitement.
Lessons in technique and rhythm entrainment see the group grow musically empowered; soon participants are not only
drumming, but playing hand percussion, singing and laughing together - even cheering in appreciation of each other's dancing skills!
Drum Circle Events caters for any group size with Interactive Drumming and Music Programs tailored to fit each event, perfect for:
Description of a planned Team Building Activity
Introduction - "Chaos comes to order"
The first 10 - 20 minutes of the drum circle is completely non-verbal, with the facilitator orchestrating an atmosphere of anticipation and excitement. In this section, people follow simple instruction made through gesture, allowing them to get comfortable playing the drum and making music together.
Facilitator debriefs
Part 1 - The history of the drum and it significance in various cultures.
Part 2 - The symbolism of the drumming circle i.e. the metaphor "The Whole is greater than the sum of its parts".
Every individual counts.
Optional Groove Tube Session - "Individual contribution to the whole." The room will be divided into four groups, with every participant receiving a corresponding colored Groove Tube (e.g. Orange, Pink, Green, Red). Each group is then given an individual rhythm. Once the rhythms are mastered our facilitator will then bring someone from the team to the front, to hold the rhythm and conduct their own orchestra. Each group will then take turns in not playing their beat, and they will hear how important each contribution is to the greater soundscape.
Entrainment of the drum - "Continual Improvement"
The group is then taken through a basic entrainment of how to play the drum and how to produce its different sounds. During this section delegates respond to rhythms through a series of call and response. This will eventually lead them into a rhythm of their own.
Percussion - "Individual Accountability"
While delegates continue holding their rhythm, our facilitator randomly distributes a number of percussion instruments which has been prefaced by a brief commentary regarding an individual's accountability. Whoever is holding a percussion instrument will have the opportunity to 'solo' and perform while accompanied by the whole group.
Finale
By this stage the group has well and truly become a unified music ensemble. Our facilitator will bring the volume up and down through a series of rumbles, building up to a high energy grand finale. This leads into a dynamic introduction to next facilitator/MC/session.
