Peter Berner emerged as a major Australian comedic talent with the creation of the ABC TV program "BackBerner". This hot satirical television comedy has managed to garner both public and critical acclaim - helped in no small part by the talent of Peter as host and a key member of the writing team.
Previously, Peter had worked as a standup comic since 1988, during this time he appeared as a headline act at all the major Australian comedy venues, in addition to an extensive diary of international engagements.
Over the 11 years of his career to date, Peter has developed into one of Australia's sharpest comics; deftly blending political satire, contemporary commentary and razor like insights to modern life.
1998 saw him complete a sell out tour of New Zealand and travel to appear at the prestigious Jongleurs Comedy Club (amongst others) in London. Peter's performances were greeted with universal applause.
Organisations as diverse as government departments, Toyota, ICI, TNT and the Royal Australian Navy have utilised Peter's unique talents at corporate functions. In many instances Peter has fulfilled the role of MC and guest speaker, as well as performing his hilarious comedy routines. Peter is also able to write material specific to corporate requirements liaising directly with the client to ensure the most successful outcome.
Peter has written and performed various successful shows including "Lonely Guys" and "Rant", both of which received rave reviews during the 1997 Melbourne International Comedy Festival, during the same Festival Peter was generally regarded as the highlight of the Gala which was broadcast nationally on the Nine Network.
During March 1999 Peter premiered his newest comic creation "Disturbed" which played to packed houses at The Harold Park Hotel in Sydney. He then took "Disturbed" to Melbourne Town Hall during the Melbourne International Comedy Festival where it was widely regarded as a must see show amongst the 300 plus shows on offer.
During the Melbourne Comedy Festival 1999 Peter was awarded the Australian Comedy industries highest honour - being nominated for a "Stella - Best of the Fest" Award.
Peter is widely regarded as the funniest man in Australia, and has a proven record of success in all facets of comedy and at all levels of the industry - he is an entertainer and speaker not to be missed.
