5 Tips to #BreakTheBias when creating your Agenda

For International Women's Day 2022, Leanne Christie, Chief Of Everything O shares five tips to #breakthebias when planning your Agenda for your next event.

Here are some tips that you can put into your agenda when selecting speakers for your upcoming events.

As part of your equity policy, make sure that you have equal time for men and women on the stage, but also in any panels you might be running.

Profile your women's speakers ahead of time. This will let all the people attending your conference know that it's going to be gender equality agenda.

Choose speakers who already live gender equity policy. What do I mean by that? There are already many speakers who only want to attend and speak where there already is a gender equity policy on stage. Seek out those speakers. Ovations can also give you some tips on who they are. There are a number of speakers who have already have in their agreements that they will not speak at conferences who don't have women's speakers on their lineups. We can help you with some tips for finding some of those speakers

And finally, a great tip from a woman speaker that I work with who works in AI. She said, "It's easy. Replace all speakers with robots." - Now that might sound funny, but why it's really funny to me is the next thing she said is, "Whoops, wait on, most robots are made by men with unconscious bias. Robots aren't the answer." We've got a lot of work to do, but there are five things that hopefully will help you. Let's Break The Bias.
