Tim Gibson will be the youngest Australian launched into space in 2016.
Tim Gibson dreamed of just one thing: becoming a fighter pilot in the Royal Australian Air Force. Studying for years to achieve his dream, he was rejected at 17 for long sightedness but didn’t let that stop him, applying again and launching five appeals before finally conceding.
His preparation didn’t go to waste however: Tim was recently selected as the Australian representative for an expedition sending citizens to space with aerospace company XCOR. Out of more than one million entries, Tim was chosen as one of 23 who will be going to space and will become Australia’s youngest astronaut.
Tim’s tale is one of perseverance, dedication and luck - which won’t stop at the boundary of our atmosphere: he plans to parlay the skills and training gained during his outer space adventure into a career in aerospace.
Tim Sharp is an internationally acclaimed artist who spoke at TEDx at the Sydney Opera House. He’s also autistic.
I've seen a few thousand speakers on stage, but after watching Tim & Judy, I can see why they continually receive standing ovations.
Leanne Christie, CEO Ovations International
Tim and Judy Sharp have shared a different kind of adventure, one that started in 1991 when Judy was told that Tim was severely autistic. Defying the odds, Tim has gone on to international artistic acclaim as the creator of comic character "Laser Beak Man" and recently spoke at TEDx Sydney on the stage of the Sydney Opera House.
Fans include Wayne Bennett, Ms Quentin Bryce the Governor General, Ken Done, Alex Perry, Alan Jones, The Wiggles and his latest exhibition in Brisbane was opened by Ms Anna Bligh, then Premier of Queensland.
Judy’s determination to find a means to communicate with her son led to a shared passion for drawing, which eventually culminated in the creation of the comic superhero at age 11. His art is now in demand with collectors worldwide and has been turned into an animated series shown on networks throughout Asia-Pacific.
Judy Sharp’s book about their life together, A Double Shot of Happiness is out now and we have two copies to give away.
