Career overview
He began his career in health service management initially completing an executive development program that prepared him to occupy senior management roles in health services.  He took up his first line management role to manage the surgical services of a large teaching hospital (Royal Prince Alfred in Sydney) and successfully introduced commercial management skills to the traditional medical model.

Alan spent 2 years in the United Kingdom working in consulting roles to health service organisations that enabled him to broaden to an international perspective his management learning?s and experience.

Upon his return to Australia he took up a senior Corporate Services role working as a member of a team that successfully established a management group to co-ordinate the activities of 12 previously independent organisations.

Shortly after this he was appointed as the General Manager of a group of 4 hospitals with the specific brief to improve the way the business operated.  He did this by instigating a cultural change plan linked to the strategic plan.

Alan made a decision to leave the health system and to expand his general management exposure by entering management consulting.  After some time with Coopers and Lybrand Consultants during which he successfully completed various strategic consulting and training assignments he made a decision to move into smaller consulting environments that allow him to focus on his areas of love and skill.
