Denis Horgan founded the Leeuwin Estate winery in Margaret River 30 years ago.
Committed to achieving excellence, Leeuwin Estate is recognised internationally for producing premium quality varietal wines ranking alongside the worlds finest.

With the family involved significantly in the day to day management of the Estate, Leeuwin also became a pioneer in the business of Wine Tourism. Celebrating fine wine, food and the arts, Leeuwin Estate is recognised as one of Western Australia 's leading tourist attractions. Whilst wine connoisseurs the world over visit Leeuwin each year, the Estate also offers an Art Gallery, an award winning restaurant, wine education programmes and a series of spectacular annual alfresco concerts.

Denis, a Chartered Accountant, is a past President of the Wine Industry Association of Western Australia (a position he held for four years), Deputy President of the Australian Regional Winemakers' Forum and on the board of the Winemakers' Federation of Australia.

Both Denis and his wife, Tricia, are dual recipients of Western Australia's highest wine industry and tourism awards - in the Jack Mann and the Sir David Brand Awards respectively - and have both been admitted to the Order of Australia for their contribution to the wine and tourism industries.

This quickly led to a flourishing career on stage, film, and television with ABC TV's Rush in 1974 earning him a Logie Award for Best New Talent, and quickly followed by films such as End Play, Summerfield, Breaker Morant, All the Rivers Run, Nancy Wake and Alice to Nowhere. From 1972 he hosted the children’s ABC program Play School for a decade, and regularly appeared until 1991, endearing him to generations.
