An active member of the National Speakers Association, Edward E. Scannell has given more than a thousand presentations, seminars and workshops across the U.S. and in several overseas venues.
Equally involved in both civic and professional organizations, he has served on the Boards of Directors of a number of groups, including the Tempe Chamber of Commerce, The American Society for Training and Development (ASTD), Meeting Professionals International (MPI), and the National Speakers Association. He was elected National President of ASTD in 1982 and later served a two-year term as the Executive Chairman of the International Federation of Training and Development Organizations.

He has written or coauthored several books and over a hundred articles in the fields of Human Resource Management, Communication, Creativity, Meeting Planning, Management and Teambuilding. His best-selling Games Trainers Play series (McGraw-Hill) are used by speakers, trainers, and meeting planners around the world.

A past president of MPI's Arizona Sunbelt Chapter and its 1986 "Planner of the Year", he was also MPI's International President in 1988-89. He served as Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees for MPI's Educational Research Foundation. He was selected as MPI's "International Planner of the Year" in 1994, and served as Dean for MPI Institutes program. He received the CMP (Certified Meeting Meetings Professional) in 1986 and currently serves on the Convention Industry Council's CMP Board of Directors.
The 1987-88 President of the Arizona Speakers Association and twice the national recipient of the NSA's President's Award, he was elected National President of NSA for 1991-92 and serves on the NSA Foundation Board of Trustees.

He was awarded the C.S.P) Certified Speaking Professional) in 1986. He also served an interim term as NSA's Executive Vice President. He received NSA's "Cavett" Award, the Association's highest individual recognition, in 1999.

Formerly the Director of the University Conference Bureau at Arizona State University, Scannell also taught at the ASU College of Business and previously at the University of Northern Iowa. He is currently serving as the Director of the Center for Professional Development and Training in Scottsdale, Arizona. He is a frequent speaker at meeting industry events including such groups as ASAE, ASTD, HSMAI, MPI, PCMA and TSEA. A skilled facilitator, he has conducted numerous strategic planning retreats for both Trade and Professional Association Boards of Directors. His articles have appeared in numerous trade and professional publications.

As recognition of his activities, he is listed in several "WHO'S WHO" Directories, such as Leaders in Education, Who's Who in the West, The Dictionary of International Biography, and Men of Achievement.

John Waters

John Waters is one of Australia's most recognised and respected film and theatre actors. Son of Scottish actor Russell Waters, John’s childhood was spent around film studios and appearing in minor roles. Arriving in Australia in 1968 he was cast in the US film Adam's Woman, landed the lead role of Claude in the 1969 production of rock musical, Hair alongside Marcia Hines, and later the role of Judas in Godspell. This quickly led to a flourishing career on stage, film, and television with ABC TV's Rush in 1974 earning him a Logie Award for Best New Talent, and quickly followed by films such as End Play, Summerfield, Breaker Morant, All the Rivers Run, Nancy Wake and Alice to Nowhere. From 1972 he hosted the children’s ABC program Play School for a decade, and regularly appeared until 1991, endearing him to generations.
