Elton Flatley has had an illustrious rugby career spanning a decade. Signed as a schoolboy straight out of Nudgee College into the professional senior ranks, he went on to achieve great heights.

Elton made his Reds debut in 1996 aged just 18, becoming the youngest player to do so since Michael Lynagh in 1982, and quickly stepped up to the national team in the following year.

He became the youngest player to reach 100 caps for Queensland when he led the team out against the Sharks in Durban in April 2004.

In terms of pressure kicks, they don't come much tougher: penalties a minute before the end of normal time and two minutes before the end of extra time to keep Australia alive in the 2003 Rugby World Cup final against England. As the shining star of the Wallabies World Cup campaign Elton stepped up to both . . . and threaded them when all seemed doomed.

Elton also scored the third fastest Super 12 try of all time (amazingly behind two other Reds players Latham & Kefu) when he pounced after just 26 seconds of the opening game against the Hurricanes at Ballymore.

On 16th March 2006 Elton shocked the International Rugby community when he reluctantly announced he had signed off on a decade-long career, due to a series of career-threatening head-knocks suffered over the past few seasons.

Since retiring Elton has been extremely busy with speaking engagements, charity events and appeared in the reality TV program "Celebrity Survivor".

He is currently completing his Diploma in Financial Planning through the Securities Institute.

Elton is working towards setting up his own Goal Kicking Coaching company where he will pass on his talent.
