Whilst originally planning a career as a schoolteacher after completing her Arts degree, Geraldine applied on an impulse for a journalism cadetship with The West Australian instead. Since then she has thrived on that impulsive decision.

Within the first ten years of her career, Geraldine had carved out a reputation in print, television and radio, including two years at the London Bureau working for the Murdoch group's Australian papers. Her entrance into television was unexpected. Whilst covering a story for The Australian, an ABC Television reporter interviewed her for a Four Corners program. When the head office executives saw the interview, they were so impressed with her on-camera presence that they offered Geraldine the Perth compere's position for ABC Television's then new program Nationwide.

She soon moved to Sydney to host the NSW edition of the program and established herself as one of the most respected and popular personalities on national television.
Geraldine then worked for a time on commercial radio with 2UE and on commercial television, co-presenting Channel 10's main news bulletin, before returning to the ABC.

Geraldine played a major role in ABC TV's coverage of the Gulf War. During this period Geraldine was awarded two Penguin Awards and a United Nations Media Peace Prize.  Geraldine began presenting Life Matters, a new ABC Radio National program which set out to cover the full gamut of social issues in everyday life. She also became host of ABC TV's Compass program, which looks at issues of spirituality, philosophy and belief every Sunday evening. After 11 years with Life Matters, she moved to Saturday mornings to host a program focusing on international politics, Australia's role on the world stage, and business, called Saturday Extra.

Geraldine was awarded a Churchill Fellowship for social and cultural reporting. She was recognised with an Officer in the Order of Australia for services to the community and media, and most recently, Geraldine was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Letters by her alma mater, the University of Western Australia.

John Waters

John Waters is one of Australia's most recognised and respected film and theatre actors. Son of Scottish actor Russell Waters, John’s childhood was spent around film studios and appearing in minor roles. Arriving in Australia in 1968 he was cast in the US film Adam's Woman, landed the lead role of Claude in the 1969 production of rock musical, Hair alongside Marcia Hines, and later the role of Judas in Godspell. This quickly led to a flourishing career on stage, film, and television with ABC TV's Rush in 1974 earning him a Logie Award for Best New Talent, and quickly followed by films such as End Play, Summerfield, Breaker Morant, All the Rivers Run, Nancy Wake and Alice to Nowhere. From 1972 he hosted the children’s ABC program Play School for a decade, and regularly appeared until 1991, endearing him to generations.

Tim Ross

Tim Ross, renowned comedian, radio and TV host, has a significant passion for architecture and design. Over the last decade, he performed his live show, Man About the House, in various noteworthy buildings globally, while advocating for Australian architecture and design. His advocacy work earned him awards from the National Trust and the Australian Institute of Architects. He made waves with his TV series, Streets of Your Town and Designing A Legacy, which tackled aspects of Australian architecture, and he's set to release a new season of the latter in 2023. As an author, he's published books like The Rumpus Room and Scorcher and contributed to multiple publications. Ross curated his first exhibition, Design Nation, in 2018 and toured Australia with his show, MOTEL, in 2019, which inspired a book and a national touring exhibition.
