In his book, Growing Your Company's Leaders: How Great Organizations Use Succession Management to Sustain Competitive Advantage (Robert Fulmer, coauthor), Jay helps leaders secure and prepare their organization's next generation of value-building leaders. His previous book, Shared Leadership: Reframing the How's and Why's of Leading Others, is the first book of its kind to address the concepts, methods, and practices behind successful shared leadership. In Winning 'Em Over: A New Model for Managing in the Age of Persuasion, Jay lays out concrete steps to help leaders gain new levels of commitment and motivation through teamwork rather than hierarchy. He champions knowledge as a strategic asset and the value of all stakeholders, not just shareholders, in Corporate Boards: New Strategies for Adding Value at the Top.

Jay came to Claremont from the London Business School, where he was a professor of organizational behavior. He was the top-ranked professor at USC's core MBA program. Harvard Business School invited him to help redesign the school's organizational behavior course around leadership issues. Jay also consults with a worldwide list of private corporations and nonprofit organizations and is Associate Editor of Leadership Quarterly.
