Jo Stanley

Jo Stanley is one of Australia's most popular comedians, widely recognised for her role as co-host on top rating Melbourne breakfast radio program Fox FM's 'The Matt and Jo Show', which averages over 580,000 listeners every week day.
 
Jo's stand-up comedy show 'Prettier in Person' blew the critics away, with The Age reviewer Helen Razer stating, 'I adored Stanley'. Accompanied with musicians and dancers, Jo took the classic 'chick magazine' and presented it on stage in an all-singing, all-dancing extravaganza. In typically irreverent style she shared her intensely personal perspective of glossy mags, leaving the audience to question of 'what is truth and what is simply a story in what we read?'
 
Jo also writes a weekly opinion column for the No.1 selling Victorian newspaper, 'The Sunday Herald Sun', based on observations of events, people, and news that have shaped our week.
 
Whilst maintaining her stand-up career Jo has also been a well known face on Australian TV in a variety of programs such as, 'The Panel', 'Sunday Brunch', 'Clever', 'Thank God You're Here', 'Family Feud', 'Australia's Brainiest Quiz Show, 'Good News Week' and 'Celebrity Singing Bee'. Jo has also hosted 'Yasmin's Getting Married', 'Good as Gold', and 'Short and Sweet'.
 
Jo took on the huge challenge of competing on Seven's 'It Takes Two', where she paired up with singer Anthony Callea against other Australian celebrities, in a singing showdown backed by a live band. Jo got all the way to the Grand Final before coming runner up, but not before wowing Australian audiences with her and Anthony's rendition of 'The Prayer'.
 
Jo overcame her shyness at school by becoming the class joker. Her exhibitionism took her into acting and she went on to complete a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Drama and Theatre Studies at Monash University, where she kept people laughing even in scenes within she was meant to be dying. Recognising her ability to make people laugh, Jo began writing and performing Stand-up and Sketch Comedy, a talent that has taken her all around the country and overseas.
 
It was whilst doing stand-up in a dingy Collingwood pub about 5 years ago that Jo was discovered by Fox FM. She started in the Sunday night shift before building her success with the Matt and Jo Breakfast Show, and going on to become the popular multi-media personality she is today.
 
Jo has graced the film industry in a number of short films and has since been involved in various VCA short films with an on-going interest in the industry. Jo also supplements her television and radio hosting by combing her radiant personality and charisma to MC corporate functions.
