Mark Robertson

Mark Robertson knows what it feels like to be written off.

Growing up in one of Brisbane's toughest suburbs, Mark left home at just 12 years old. By 16, he was heading down a path that could easily have ended in prison. Instead, a diversionary program introduced him to something he had never truly experienced before: support, mentorship, and the belief that his life could be

different.

That experience changed everything.

Through music, creativity, and the guidance of people who saw potential in him, Mark found a new direction. More importantly, he discovered a purpose: to ensure that other young people never feel invisible, unheard, or without hope.

Today, Mark is the Founder and Director of One Vision Productions, a nationally recognised not-for-profit that empowers young people through programs focused on resilience, wellbeing, empathy, creativity, and leadership. He is also the creator of MPOWER, a personal empowerment platform developed alongside high-profile ambassadors including Chris Hemsworth, Baker Boy, Damon Gameau, and Eso from Bliss n Eso.

Over the past 15 years, Mark and his team have positively impacted more than 10,000 young people across over 190 schools and communities, achieving a government-validated success rate of 91%.

His work has earned recognition including a Churchill Fellowship, Westpac Social Changemaker of Australia, Young Social Pioneer of the Year, and the NSW Mental Health Matters Award for Leadership Through Lived Experience. He has advised government leaders, met with Prince Harry, and built one of Australia's most respected youth wellbeing organisations.

But what makes Mark's message resonate isn't the awards.

It's his ability to connect. Drawing from his own journey, Mark combines powerful storytelling, practical strategies, and genuine authenticity to inspire audiences to overcome adversity, lead with purpose, and create meaningful change in their own lives and communities.

Whether speaking to educators, corporate leaders, community organisations, or young people, Mark leaves

audiences with a simple but powerful message:

People don't transform because they're told what to do. They transform when they feel seen, heard, and empowered to believe in themselves.

Mark is available for keynotes, panels, workshops, and conference programs on mental health, resilience, education, leadership, social impact, Indigenous wellbeing, and creative entrepreneurship.

Speaking topics

From the Streets to the Stage
Lived Experience Leadership — Turning Adversity into Impact

Mark Robertson's story isn't one of theory. It's one of survival, second chances, and purpose.

At just 12 years old, Mark left home and learned to navigate life on the streets. By 16, he was heading down a path that could easily have led in and out of prison for the rest of his life. Then someone took the time to see him and believe in him, and the power of mentorship showed him a different way forward. That moment changed everything. From every youth shelter in Brisbane and years on the streets, to now running one of the country's most successful not-for-profits working with at-risk youth.

In this powerful keynote, Mark shares the realities of growing up feeling disconnected, the challenges he faced, and the turning points that helped him rebuild his life. He speaks openly about resilience, self-belief, and the profound impact one person can have when they choose to invest in another. He shows audiences how to work with young people on a deeper level, turning trauma into strength, and gives them the toolkit to do it.

Today, Mark leads one of Australia's most respected youth wellbeing organisations, but his message goes far beyond his achievements. Now finishing his first book, The Wanderer: Rites of Passage, Mark speaks through honest storytelling, practical insight, and genuine connection. He shows how adversity can become strength, how purpose can emerge from pain, and why people thrive when they feel seen, heard, valued, and given the opportunity to change.

Heartfelt, inspiring, and deeply relatable, this keynote leaves audiences with a renewed understanding of resilience, leadership, and the power of human connection.

The Youth Mental Health Crisis — What Actually Works
A Frontline Perspective on What Our System Gets Wrong — and How to Fix It

Despite significant investment in youth services, many young people continue to struggle with disconnection, poor mental health, and a lack of belonging. So why are the outcomes not improving?

Drawing on more than 15 years of working alongside young people in over 190 schools and communities, Mark explores where traditional approaches miss the mark and what can be done differently. Through real stories, practical examples, and lessons learned on the frontline, he shares an approach built on genuine connection, creativity, trust, and giving young people a real voice in shaping their own futures.

Mark advises ministers, has spoken in parliament, and his program is being considered as one of a small number of organisations for a national diversionary pilot. Right now, children as young as 10 are entering the justice system, at a cost to taxpayers that runs into the millions, in a crisis this country can no longer afford to ignore. Whether it's incarceration, education, or mental health, Mark brings fresh thinking to problems most people have written off as too hard.

With a 91% government-validated success rate and recognition as best practice by the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, Mark offers a grounded perspective on what meaningful support actually looks like for disengaged and at-risk youth.

This keynote challenges educators, leaders, and decision-makers to move beyond programs and policies and focus on what young people need most: to feel seen, heard, valued, and empowered.

The MPOWER Method
How Music, Storytelling and Creative Expression Transform the Most Disengaged Young People

What do hip hop, filmmaking, and ancient wisdom have in common? They have a unique ability to connect with young people in ways that traditional approaches often cannot.

In this engaging keynote, Mark shares the story behind MPOWER, Australia's leading personal empowerment platform, developed to help young people build resilience, confidence, and a stronger sense of self. Drawing on years of experience working with thousands of young people, he explores why creativity, culture, and storytelling are so effective in creating meaningful and lasting change.

Rather than viewing arts-based approaches as an add-on, Mark demonstrates how they can become powerful tools for engagement, well-being, and personal growth. Through real-world examples and practical insights, he shows how schools, organisations, businesses, and communities can create environments where people feel connected, valued, and empowered to thrive.

Supported by ambassadors including Chris Hemsworth, Damon Gameau, and Baker Boy, MPOWER offers a proven model for reaching people where they are and helping them unlock their potential.

This keynote leaves audiences with a fresh perspective on wellbeing, engagement, and the role creativity can play in transforming lives.

Indigenous Engagement and Cultural Safety in Wellbeing Programs
Why Co-Design, Lived Experience and Cultural Safety Are Non-Negotiable

"The ones who are most tested, who face the most adversity, are the ones being trained to become the greatest warriors."

That belief sits at the heart of everything Mark does, and it's why effective wellbeing programs for at-risk and Indigenous young people can never be built from a distance. They have to be shaped with communities, grounded in local knowledge, and earned through trust, respect, and genuine cultural understanding.

Drawing on more than 15 years of working alongside Indigenous communities and vulnerable young people across Australia, Mark shares what he's learned in classrooms, on country, and in youth justice settings, where cultural safety isn't a policy. It's whether a kid decides to stay in the room. He speaks openly about shame, rites of passage, and the trauma-informed approach that lets the most guarded young people begin to trust again, and he gives audiences the practical tools to do the same.

This keynote is built for leaders in government, education, not-for-profits, and corporate social responsibility who want real impact, not box-ticking. Mark's work has been formally cited in the NSW Parliament and recognised as best practice by the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet. But what audiences remember is the honesty. He challenges them to rethink how they work both with and inside communities, and what it actually takes to build programs that last.

Grounded in lived experience and delivered without spin, this is a perspective on leadership, partnership, and creating change that holds.

Through his authentic approach, strong cultural understanding, and ability to connect with young people, Mark created an environment where students felt safe, engaged, and empowered to participate. Mark's leadership and passion were evident throughout, inspiring students to explore music, dance, performance, and creative expression in ways that built both skills and confidence. One of the most noticeable outcomes was the growth in students' confidence and willingness to take on leadership roles.
