Marvin Oka is a highly sought after international consultant and speaker specialising in business and management applications of leading edge 'behavioural change' technologies and research. Recognised as a world leader and authority in his field, Marvin has built an impressive track record over the last 26 years helping organisations with strategic, systemic and cultural change within dynamically complex business environments.
Marvin's clients range from private enterprises to government agencies throughout Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, North America, Europe and the Middle East. Marvin's professional background is in an innovative and groundbreaking field known as 'Behavioural Modelling'. This exciting field examines various forms of human talent, ability and expertise, and then seeks to create models and methods to replicate these forms of superior performance in others. Behavioural Modelling is essentially a 'behavioural change' technology that can be applied to dramatically improve human performance in the areas of thinking skills, emotional intelligence, physical skills, and overall ways of being (character development).
Marvin's consulting abilities are unique in that he is the only Behavioural Modelling practitioner in his field specialising in the related areas of leadership, organisational culture shaping, leadership communications, strategic thinking, and systemic change. He is only one of five people in the world to be recognised by his peers with the rare title of 'Certified Master Behavioural Modeller'. Additionally, Marvin was also one of the first five people to achieve the accredited status of a 'Certified NLP Master Trainer' in the field of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), and at that time was the youngest to ever have reached this level of professional competency.
Born in Honolulu, Hawaii and now living in Australia, Marvin is one of the founding Directors of the International NLP Trainers Association (INLPTA) based in Washington, DC, and with representation in over 42 countries worldwide. Marvin is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Honolulu Executives Association (HEA), a past Executive Director of Maxxum International Training and Research Pty. Ltd. Marvin's consulting work involves the facilitation of strategic conversation and strategy development, leadership team development, executive coaching, organisational culture shaping, leadership communications, organisational development and behavioural modelling projects.
Just some of Marvin's clients include National Australia Bank, Lotus-IBM Asia Pacific, BHP Coal, the Australian Taxation Office, ICI (now Orica), Telstra, Carlton United Breweries, Unilever, Suncorp, MLC Insurance, Warner Music Australia, Changi Airport (Singapore), SAP Asia-Pacific, John Holland Group, Salmat-Salesforce, Estee Lauder, Victoria University, and many others.
Marvin is in constant demand as an international speaker and has delivered the keynote address for such groups and events as the annual Psycholinguistics Scholars Conference (USA), and the 'Mt. Abu Dialogue' (an international leadership conference in India sponsored by the Brahma Kumaris, a non-governmental affiliation of the United Nations and seven times winner of the UN Peace Prize). He is also in high demand as a 'trainer's trainer' at international NLP Trainers Trainings, and is responsible for having created many NLP based training and presentation techniques that have become industry standards throughout Australia and the rest of the world.
Marvin has also created several application-based methodologies from his Behavioural Modelling research. Most notable are his methodologies of Generative Learning (for training and learning), Strategic Navigation (a strategic management methodology developed in collaboration with Dr. Richard Hames), and Buyer Based Selling (for understanding the mind of your buyer).
