Paul Allen

Paul Allen is Australasia's leading Margin Recovery Specialist, helping organisations recover the EBITDA they unknowingly give away through everyday commercial behaviour. His decade of research challenges one of business's most accepted beliefs that better profitability comes from finding more customers. Instead, Paul demonstrates that the greatest profit opportunity is often already hiding inside an organisation's existing customers, contracts and commercial behaviours. His defining insight is simple: "Margin isn't lost. It's taught."

Following 24 years in senior commercial leadership with Lion, Tabcorp, Patties Foods, O-I Glass and Nippon Paper, Paul founded Margin Partners to solve one question: Why do good businesses quietly give so much margin away?

Over the past decade he has worked with more than 70 organisations across Australia and New Zealand, uncovering more than $30 million in operating profit improvement opportunities. His clients include Mitsubishi Motors Australia, Southern Cross Healthcare New Zealand, Komatsu, Bundaberg Brewed Drinks, Beechworth Bakery, Vistage and The CEO Institute. His evidence base now spans 750+ CEOs, 500+ business owners and more than 1,000 independent voices, culminating in the Margin Recovery System™ and his acclaimed keynote, Too Generous to Thrive.

Paul holds an MBA together with undergraduate degrees in Business (Marketing) and Social Sciences (Literature). His presentations combine executive experience, original research, compelling storytelling and practical frameworks that audiences can implement immediately to improve commercial performance.

As Jo McCauley, CEO of MAS New Zealand, said after working with Paul:

"Paul helped us add enormous value back to the bottom line, but more importantly, he took the team, closest to our customers,on the journey so they understood the 'why'. He's very talented at what he does."
