Sam  Simmons is one of the most daring and unconventional comics in Australia, completely original and vastly absurd, he has one foot firmly planted into the soils of reality, and the other rooted deep into the psyche of being silly.

Simmons is a  cult figure within the Australian comedy scene as he continues to collect awards and glowing reviews he is on the cusp of break out brilliance.

2010 MICF Golden Gibbo Award for The Incident with David Quirk
2010 MICF Piece of Wood Award for Fail

Sam Simmon's  show Fail is a hit -  a masterpiece of surreality, silliness and sadness wrapped up in a comedy performance of such passion and complexity that it approaches genius. Simmons is part clown, part wit, part tragedian, part angry not-as-young-as-he-was man. He hates shiny ankles, animals on toilet paper and babies and loves Nandos. He throws bread, thinks about whales and talks to Diane The Very Attractive Cabbage. All the while he is taking part in a TV quiz show, studding his hour with hilariously silly one-liners and arguing with the quizmaster, a recorded voice which, thanks to the brilliance and perfectly disguised precision of Simmons' performance, becomes a quasi-corporeal comedy foil for the increasingly agitated performer

A review from the Scottsman, a UK paper about Sam's performance "FAIL" at the Melbourne Festival, see below:

"Sam Simmons's show is a masterpiece of surreality, silliness and sadness wrapped up in a comedy performance of such passion and complexity that it approaches genius. Simmons is part clown, part wit, part tragedian, part angry not-as-young-as-he-was man. He hates shiny ankles, animals on toilet paper and babies and loves Nandos. Add moments of pure stand-up addressing the central theme of the show, which is failure, moments often so raw they take your breath away, and you have an hour that will haunt you forever. Such is the power of Simmons' comic talents that this incredibly technically complicated show never for a second appears tricksy (respect to the technical guys in the Dining Room), the overwhelming humanity of the piece and the open-hearted, sheer funniness of the man makes it all "fit". It is a spellbinding comedy tour de force. If you have any interest in comedy, see this show."

Testimonials

Sam is King of Random absurdist nonsense - a great antidote to our success obsessed culture. Saw Sam Simmons in Fail ast night and honestly it's the MOST original brilliant comedic material I've seen in Oz for longer than I can remember. This is not classic standup but a complete quite tricky and complex show with musical... interludes and mad themes. Make the effort to catch him now before he is snapped up for an international career that seems to be an obvious next step. If you love Flight of the Conchords for their random brilliance you will love Sam
