Shara Evans is internationally acknowledged as a cutting edge technology futurist, keynote speaker, commentator, strategy advisor and thought leader, as well as the Founder and CEO of Market Clarity, an award-winning technology analyst firm that provides insight, intelligence and advice on all aspects of the telecom and emerging technologies markets.

She’s also the Founder of Telsyte (subsequently sold to UXC), and has been providing innovative research and strategic consulting on telecoms and technology for the past 18 years. Shara is one of the industry’s leading commentators on telecommunications and technology issues, and is regularly sought by print, online, radio and television media, conference producers and clients to provide insight on a broad spectrum of issues.

Shara’s latest research area, Future Tech 2026 leverages her life long love of science and science fiction, and her deep ties to the scientific research community. Her ongoing series of interviews with thought leaders in research labs, vendor labs, telcos, start-ups, futurists and others — covers a very wide range of topics, such as: new form factors for phones/devices, wearables, implantables, sensors, wireless technologies, holograms, augmented reality, virtual reality, 3D printing, home automation (and the many different types of Internet-connected devices within homes), robotics, drones, cars of the future, artificial intelligence, privacy, and the next wave of innovation.
Shara helps her clients understand new product and service opportunities that are being underpinned by these emerging technologies. Frequently working with executive, strategy and product teams, Shara helps organisations think outside the box of what’s available today to imagine the world in 5 or 10 years.

Shara uses these insights to help companies harness the fast moving world of technology innovation to develop new lines of business, as well as helping them assess their strengths, weakness, potential opportunities and threats from emerging technologies to develop a disruptive competitive advantage.

Fusing an engineering background with an intuitive understanding of how society is likely to respond to new technologies, Shara is widely regarded as one of the world’s top female futurists.

Shara is one of the industry’s leading commentators on telecommunications and technology issues, and is regularly sought by print, online, radio and television media, conference producers and clients to provide insight on a broad spectrum of issues. Shara has appearing on The Drum, 7.30, Sky News, Sunrise, NBN News and many others, as well as being a frequent guest on radio programs where she brings a futurist slant to technology trends.
Shara’s involvement in the technology industry began in the early ‘80s when she was a software engineer responsible for designing telecommunications protocols and networks. Her technical and business career has included a variety of executive positions with companies such as Alcatel, Sprint, Telenet, GTE and SmithKline prior to founding her first telecommunications analyst firm, Telsyte, in 1997.

Under Shara’s leadership, Market Clarity developed extensive databases, forecast models and geospatial tools for tracking and analysing the deployment Australian telecommunications infrastructure and services – allowing for the presentation of highly complex information in an intuitive geographic (map) format.

Shara has a deep understanding of telecommunications technologies and services, and is an acknowledged expert in the area of convergence. In addition to extensive corporate, government, vendor, carrier and service provider client work, she served on numerous industry, government and business boards, and has authored hundreds of research reports, white papers and articles on telecommunications and emerging technologies.
Shara is a graduate of Temple University (USA) with a B.A. in Political Science and has done postgraduate work in Computer Science at Villanova University (USA).

A massive thank you to you both for all your assistance from selecting to co-ordinating the speakers for our annual ProLoan conference. Feedback was that this year’s speakers where the best they had EVER heard at ANY event. So this is pretty amazing, because they do go to a lot of sessions like these.

I would recommend, without hesitation, the services of Jane Rowland Smith and Ovations. Jane answered a last minute call to arrange a guest speaker for our principals. Nothing was too much effort, all was arranged within hours, and went very smoothly. The guest speaker was exactly what we required and our brief was followed. Thank you Jane and the team at Ovations.

All aspects of the process has always gone seamlessly with Ovations and we will continue to seek your assistance for the awards in the coming years.

Thank you again, your help has meant that our Awards are very professional and extremely well received by our members and guests.

Executive Assistant BSCAA NSW Division

Jane, I personally want to thank you for all of your support, advice, patience and all round kindness that you have given me over the last 3 or so years.  This event would not have been as successful without the valuable MC’s you have recommended and the support you provided me when it all just seemed too hard
