Susan Welch, the director of Laughter Clubs in Queensland, is a certified Laughter Therapist, under Dr Madan Kataria, founder of the Laughter Clubs of India; Dr Jane Yip PhD, Laughter Therapist and Harvard Neuroscience lecturer; and an Authentic Happiness Coach in the new Positive Psychology.
Susan has worked with over 15,000 people since 2002 in educational institutions, corporations, government departments, hospitals, aged care, health and mental health, charities, conferences and community service settings, to rediscover their baseline of happiness, and learn how to build and maintain positivity and resilience.
Her tools are simple, yet powerful.
Why is Laughter a therapy? Laughter, as supported by scientific findings globally, has been known to relax muscles, reduce stress, pain, tension and depression; improve respiration, oxygenation, circulation, digestion, stamina, sleep and self confidence; strengthen the immune system; provide a meditative state to relieve us from the burdens of our thinking; increase the count of natural killer cells (that attack cancers and tumours) and raise antibody levels; equalise egos and reconnect people under a non-threatening, non-political, non-competitive banner; provide a positive, supportive space for people to feel good about themselves.
Susan Welch's work has been covered by major media such as Today Tonight, Channel 10 News, ABC, Channel 9's Brisbane Extra, The Melbourne Age, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Australian, Women's Day, and many national, local and regional radio stations. Japan TV's Comprehensive Dictionary did a documentary on her also.
What is Authentic Happiness Coaching? The new science of Positive Psychology focuses on what is right with people, rather than what is wrong, and Authentic Happiness Coaching teaches people that happiness can be cultivated by identifying and using many of the strengths that they already possess - including kindness, originality, humour, optimism and generosity. People are taught how to increase their baseline of happiness and buffer against depression, while building resilience. Susan works with this valuable therapy in 2-3 month sessions with small groups and in workplaces.
Susan's presentations are educational as well as entertaining, very inspiring, and energising! Her work is not only for personal development, but professional development as well.
