Warren Brown is the cartoonist at The Daily Telegraph in Sydney. He was the host on Top Gear Australia and has appeared in a string of documentaries. His love of cars and history has resulted in a number of bestselling books. He is an accomplished public speaker whose regular appearances include hosting Anzac Day at Gallipoli.
Matthew Benns is the Editor-at-Large of The Daily Telegraph. He is a career journalist who worked in London and has covered assignments all over the world. He has written more than 10 books including bestseller The Men Who Killed Qantas. His adventures include swimming The English Channel and racing a tuk tuk across India from Chennai to Goa.
In 2024/25 Brown and Benns embarked on the recreation of Francis Birtles epic 1927 drive from London to Melbourne in the same model Bean motor car. The journey was launched from Australia House by the deputy Australian High Commissioner, a letter of good luck from Prince Charles III and Miss England Milla Magee. It was immediately beset with problems that Brown and Benns had to overcome which make the story of the journey so compelling ... and funny. Five months later, after passing the pyramids, becoming a Tik Tok sensation in Saudi Arabia where they were the first Australians to ever drive across the country, and an audience with the King of Malaysia, they were greeted on the steps of the Melbourne GPO by Prime Minister Anthony Alabanese.
Their adventure and humorous speaking style make a compelling story that is currently being turned into a documentary and coffee table book. It can be adapted to incorporate key messaging and learnings on team work, adaptability, rapid decision making, living with mistakes, resilience and the importance of humour. For a truly compelling and immersive experience they can also bring the Bean motorcar to any event.
