Ovations IASB Community Service Award

Ovations International was delighted to be awarded the IASB Community Service Award at the recent 2013 IASB Conference in Miami. Aimed at increasing awareness on the ways in which speakers bureaus can make a difference in their local community, Ovations took out the Award for our continued support of the Australian Human Rights Commission throughout 2012.

Jane Rowland-Smith, Ovations Chief of Relationships, was the driving force behind our involvement with the AHRC. We're exceptionally proud of the work Jane has done for this cause.

Jane first became involved with AHRC when they were searching for an ambassador for their BackMeUp Campaign. BackMeUp was designed to raise awareness & stop cyber-bullying in teenagers, and AHRC was looking for someone who could connect with their target audience. Jane sourced Ruby Rose who, with a well-documented history of suffering at the hands of bullies before going on to have a successful television & modelling career, was a perfect fit for the campaign.

Following on from the success of the BackMeUp Campaign, AHRC approached Jane again when looking for a high profile media personality who was not afraid of controversy to host the 25th Anniversary of the Human Rights Awards. Jane sourced popular comedian Craig Reucassel. Craig, who has built his popularity around comedic stunts on politicians, certainly fit the bill & won over the sold out crowd.

Ovations has been awarded the IASB Community Service award regularly since 2006 and encourages employees to take the initiative to support a cause they find worthwhile when the opportunity arises.
